Arrange a burial or interment

Arrange a burial or interment of cremated remains

If you have any special requirements, such as cultural or religious customs, or if you need to speak to us about any aspect of burials and interments, then please contact us.

To book a new burial or interment of cremated remains, see the individual cemetery pages for interment options.

Family members or friends can make a provisional booking for cremated remains directly with us using the form below. Only funeral directors are able to book full burials.

You can make a provisional booking for an interment online:

If you are booking to re-open an existing grave or an already pre-purchased grave space, and you require confirmation of the grave number, then contact us first.

Book a chapel or Saturday interment

To hold a service in one of our cemetery chapels or to book a Saturday morning interment, contact the Burials team directly as they are not able to be booked online and are subject to availability.

Saturday interments can only be booked until 11am and the interment fee will be charged at double fee.

What to do next

Once the provisional booking has been submitted, you will receive a payment request by email to make an online payment. See the fees and charges page for a full list of our current fees.

You will also need to:

  • complete the Interment Form (below) and email it to burials@north-herts.gov.uk or alternatively post it to our Nottingham address found at the top of the form, together with a copy of the Burial or Cremation Certificate. To ensure confirmation of your booking, the Interment Form, copy Certificate and payment must be received by us no later than 3 working days prior to the booking date.
  • take the original Burial or Cremation Certificate to the cemetery on the day of the booking and hand it to a member of the Grounds Team. If this is not submitted on the day, please ensure it is posted to our Nottingham address immediately after.
