Resolve, an independent substance misuse treatment provider with a base in Letchworth, has been awarded nearly £6,000 by our Area Forums.

All five location-based Forums agreed to contribute a total of £5,915 to their core running costs – £1,500 from each of the Letchworth, Hitchin and Baldock Area Forums, £915 from Royston and £500 from Southern Rural.

Resolve supports the treatment and rehabilitation of adults suffering from substance/alcohol misuse problems by delivering abstinence-based services including a structured day programme with face-to-face group therapy sessions, one-to-one counselling and key worker support and advice covering housing, finance/debt management, employment etc, as well as family and friends support services.

Laura Hyde, Resolve’s Chief Executive Officer, said:“We are delighted to receive financial support from North Herts Council's Area Forums. Addiction has a profound effect on individuals, those close to them and their wider community. Drug and alcohol treatment services like Resolve have been proven to reduce misuse, improve health, decrease criminality, increase employment opportunities and improve relationships. As a local registered charity we have to fundraise to be able to provide this much needed service in North Herts. If you would like to find out more about Resolve, including how to donate, please visit www.resolve.org.uk.”

One Letchworth service user said: “My life has become increasingly better since ‘belonging’ to Resolve. Having struggled chronically for a large part of my adult life, I lost everything, I was in despair and very sick. Through Resolve’s love, understanding and genuine care, I now have something I haven’t seen in many years – hope. I can’t put a price on that.”

Cllr Alistair Willoughby, Executive Member for Community & Partnerships, who approved the funding under delegated decision, said: “The work that Resolve does with supporting those suffering with alcohol and drug issues and helping them to turn their lives around is amazing. I'm incredibly pleased that all five of our Area Forums have agreed to contribute to their core costs, to allow them to meet the needs of our community. I hope that anyone who finds themselves needing help knows that Resolve is there for them.”
